gOOd god

Hey ! Ya hear a lot about working on your inner game. Like the inner game of tennis.

your inner game

The inner game of tennis? Useful. If you’re a tennis player. But what about the bigger game? The larger game of life?

How do you work on the inner game of your life? Your spiritual life?

It IS the inner game that controls your outer game. That’s why I need
good. god. stuff. that. matters.” And my friends have asked me to share it with you. It’s stuff that will change your world. From the inside out.

it works. if you work it.

I know because this “good. god. stuff.” works for me. And others.

Before you judge it. Just do it for 30 days. Yes, come here for 30 days. Read. Meditate. Read. Meditate. Then, after 30 days, decide if it works for you.

Then extend your contract with yourself for another 30 days. And work some more. You’re worth it.

let’s focus on your inner game

good god stuff is stuFF that will change your outer world by…

… changing your inner world. by changing your thought life.

  • And then your inner game will change your whole world.
  • It’s the inner game.
  • That controls your outer game.
  • It’s the inner game. That leads to success.
  • Not “three easy steps to success” like some fake promises.
  • Not like that someone who is trying to sell you motivational videos.
  • That’s a lie. A BIG lie.
  • Not a 3-day weekend workshop.
  • But DAILY work on your inner game.
  • It is not easy.
  • It is work.
  • And it is WORK that is WORTH it.
  • You are worth it.
  • Work with intention. With purpose. With focus.
  • Work on you. ‘Cuz you’re worth it.

focus on your inner game.

So let’s begin to change everything. Join me.

You can join me right here. And here at America’s Grumpiest Grandpa on Facebook.

You can change EVERYthing. In just 30 minutes per day. But do it EVERY day. For at least 30 days.

And I recommend first thing in the morning. Every day for 30 minutes.

First thing in the morning. Give yourself the gift of the prime time of your day.

change EVERY-thing.

Changing your thought life is not done in 3 easy steps. That’s a lie.

It’s more like 28 challenging processes. This may take 3 years, not just 3 easy steps in 90 days. Changing habits. Changing everything. Accepting a new way of life.

change everything in 30-day sprints

But you can stack 30-day sprints back-to-back to complete a marathon. To create a new life. One day at a time. One step at a time. Just like accumulating steps on your Fitbit. One step at a time.

I crossed the Serengeti

Well, not exactly. I did earn the Serengeti Badge from Fitbit.  I crossed the Serengeti (500 miles) on March 11, 2017, using this technique. Not the same as crossing the Serengeti, but the same distance. That’s about 1,134,000 steps. WowZER !!! One step at a time.

You can do this…

Celebrate EVERY victory.
yes, you can

But you can do this in bite-size pieces. Just one day at a time.

And you can do it in 30 minutes per day. EVERY day.

Here’s some [gOOd. stuff. that. maTTers] to me. Maybe it will matter to you. Too.

**You will sense that I can be harsh in some of my comments. I write in this page daily. Just to keep me straight on an intentional life path. I am sharing it. Because my coach ( business and spiritual) recommended that I share my thoughts in print. He said it may be meaningful to others.

These are verses that are shaping the 4th quarter of my life. And some of these verses just rock my world. They are my reasons. Some are the reasons I get out of bed every morning at 4:24 a.m. And some are the reasons I write.

Bringing you fresh ideas on old values

This page will continually be under construction. To bring you fresh ideas on old values. To make these old values – current and usable for you. From a perspective that challenges traditional thinking. Direct and unfiltered. From America’s Grumpiest Grandpa. Bringing what you need to hear. Not always what you want to hear.

For example, Revelation 3:15-17 – you make me wanna vomit. That’s right. Read it (below) in several different versions.

I use the Bible Gateway website. And I usually use these versions –

  • The Living Bible (TLB),
  • The Message (MSG), and
  • the Hawai’i Pidgin (HWP).

Sometimes I use International Children’s Bible (ICB). The Hawai’i Pidgin version is especially lively and entertaining. It’s fresh and exciting.

The Message – Revelation 3:15-16

You make me want to vomit.

International Children’s Bible – Revelation 3:15-16

i died on december 31th and cancelled christmas
yes. you are going to die

Yes, your hour is coming. Someday.

Psalms 90:12

Count ’em. 130,000 left. That’s all.

Is it that clear? Is it that simple?

Number your days. Be accountable for using them wisely.

Count them, and be accountable.

Because, someday you will say, “I’m glad I did.” Or “I wish I had.”

i died on december 31st
what if you died on december 31st

Psalms 90:12 – Living Bible

12 Teach us to number our days and

recognize how few they are;

help us to spend them as we should.

This is clear. And it’s simple. Here’s the way I use this piece of wisdom.

I’m in the 4th quarter of my life. With about 20 years left. That’s 7,300 days. And 131,400 waking hours. Rounded to 130,000. Just do the math for yourself.

Just 130,000. That is all. This is a finite number. Limited.

what is medicare
how should I spend them ?

I only have time for worthwhile goals. No drama. Or people who bring me drama. No time for NetFlix binges. Or useless video games.

I have eliminated the negative people from my life. Now it’s time to eliminate my bad habits – the poor use of my time. I have no time for things that do not add value to my life.

It’s time to be mentally and emotionally fit. And physically fit to perform at my peak.

Teach me to number my days. To realize how precious they are. And teach me how to spend them as I should.

Focus on That ONE Thing

readers are scanners

130,000 waking hours left to do what I should be doing. I “recognize how few they are.” Now teach me “to spend them as I should.” This is my daily prayer.

And remember – everyone wants to be beast…

…until it’s time (4:23 a.m.) to do what beasts do.

When you get serious and you have your days numbered (Psalms 90:12), you can start your day at 4:23 a.m. And you can be at Panera Bread at 6:00 a.m. Focused. Writing. EVERY day.

eliminate distractions

And when you get this serious, you can eliminate distractions from your life. You will eliminate the excess activity in meaningless areas of your life. You find your “excess areas” and eliminate them.

focus on the 20. not the 80

And focus on the 20 in the 80/20 rule. The Pareto Principle.

When you understand Psalms 90:12, you focus on the 20% that gets 80% of your results.

What Others Think No Longer Matters
Zero Fear | What Others Think No Longer Matters

Zero Fear | Extreme Focus

When you are focused, you can live with zero fear. Because what others think no longer maTTers.

Focus. Without fear. You don’t need a safe place. You are your safe place.

With focus. And without fear. This is what happens. People throw you to the wolves. And you come back as leader of the pack.

Focus. Like Paul in the Bible. “This one thing I do. I run to win.” I do not run for a participation ribbon.

Focus and fear cannot co-exist.

What changes would you make…

… if you knew you were going to die? In 130,000 hours. What would you be doing right now?

I don’t waste my time on NetFlix, mindless video games, phone apps (can you say Candy Crush ? Do you realize how intentionally addictive – by design – this game is).

I spend less mindless time on Facebook. I delete the “haters” on all of my social media quickly. I avoid people who create “emotional black holes.” I’m focused on quality reading, writing with intent, time with people that share my values.

Be authentic. Be transparent.

I decided to have my morning Bible Study times. Online. Publicly. Transparently. Authentically. Right here. To share. To see if this helps someone else. Why not?

I have no time to be plastic. No time to try to portray an image of me that I am not. So accept me. As is. Or find another friend. My days are numbered. They are finite. Your life is finite , too. And I’m trying to learn how to use my days as I should.

I avoid toxic people, places,  and things. Regardless. I honor my mind and spirit by doing this. And why not honor my body by being fit enough to enjoy those precious 130,000 hours that remain?

how's your brand image
how’s your thought life

Fill Your Mind with Good Stuff

With Good. God. stuFF. that. maTTers.

Specifically, read philiPPians chapter 4. Again, I’m tellin’ ya. If you want to have a quality lifestyle, you must drop your excessive time with Netflix – watching the zombies every night. Especially, if you want to be an example for the little people in your life.

If your life is fill with zombie-watching and video games and phone apps, how do you expect your children (grandchildren) to grow intellectually?

With your entire family seated in front of the flat screen (or in their rooms with their individual tablets), you will be raising a family of super obese humans. Just like in the Disney Movie WALL-E. Watch Fitless Humans [3:24] if you haven’t seen the movie. This short clip is about fitLESS humans living in virtual reality.

Obese humans totally disconnected from their surroundings and reality. Kinda like today’s home with a flat screen in every room. And 2 electronic devices for every member of your home.

Why not fill your mind with [gOOd. god. stuFF. that. maTTers]?

Ya gotta lead from the front. And by example. And it starts with your thought life.

… “friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious

… true, noble, authentic, compelling. Does this describe your reading life? You video life? Your thought life?

…meditating on the best, not the worst;

…meditating on the beautiful, not the ugly;

…meditating on things to praise, not things to curse.”

When you read this, you realize you don’t have room for “zombie movies” in you life. And spending endless hours playing NBA X-whatever year it is.

Try this. Substitute TEDTalks for your “zombie time.” And see if you sleep better. See if you have different discussions with your children and grandchildren. See if you approach problems and your work day differently.

Challenge your family to read a classic. Start with To Kill a Mocking Bird. Spend 30 minutes every morning and every evening in the Bible. Get a Bible app like BibleGateway.

And introduce your children to Zahn Academy. Or an online coding program for children. Instead of their constant diet of YouTube farting videos. Instead of your children watching someone else play Minecraft all night.

Actually, lead your family by example. And from the front.

Your son needs to see you lead - by example - from the front.
your son needs to see you lead

And if you pretend to lead in your household, set the example. Lead by example. From the front. Change your Netflix habits and video game addiction. Lead from the front. By example.

fill your mind with things true and noble

philiPPians 4:6 – 8 | the meSSage

6-7 Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

8-9 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best…

…by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious

…by filling your minds with the best, not the worst;

…by filling your minds with the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.

Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

philiPPians 4:6 – 8 | Hawai’i Pidgin

Eh, no worry bout notting! Mo betta, everyting dat happen, pray bout um, an aks God fo do wateva you guys like him fo do. An same time, no foget tell him, “Mahalo plenny!” Den, God goin make you guys hearts rest inside. Dat goin be mo betta den anybody can figga.

God goin take care yoa hearts an yoa heads, cuz you guys stay tight wit his Spesho Guy Jesus Christ.

So den, tink bout all dese kine stuffs — wateva stay true, wateva get respeck, wateva stay right, wateva no stay pilau, whoeva you get aloha fo, wateva you talk good bout, wateva da bestes kine, weneva peopo can say, “Dass good!” — tink everytime bout all dat kine stuff.

Isn’t Hawai’i Pidgin cool?

Think about the value of all of your useless YouTube time.

Look inside your mind after a night of mindless Netflix.

Does it feel like your brain is being ravaged by a tree full of drunken monkeys? And literally throwing pOOp around in your head?

A figurative “pOOp fest” in your brain. That you created.

drunken monkeys
don’t rent your brain cells to drunken monkeys

Don’t rent your brain to the drunken monkeys of mindless Netflix viewing. You have a choice.

did ya hear bout da main rule

Now…

What is Da Main Rule?

No mo odda Rule, mo importan den dis two Rules. – Hawai’i Pidgin

Mark 12:28-31 – The Message (MSG) – called The Most Important Commandment – (parts a and b)

28 One of the religion scholars came up. Hearing the lively exchanges of questions and answers and seeing how sharp Jesus was in his answers, he put in his question:

Which is most important of all the commandments?”

29-31 Jesus said, “The first in importance is, ‘Listen, Israel:

The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.’

And here is the second:

‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’

There is no other commandment that ranks with these.”

Mark 12:28-31 – called Da Main Rule

28 One teacha who teach Godʼs Rules was standing dea. He hear dem talking, an he know dat Jesus wen shut up da Sadducee guys. So he aks him, “Eh, from all da Rules God wen give us,

…wat da main Rule?”

29 Jesus tell him, “Da main Rule dis: ‘Listen, all you Israel peopo! Da Boss Up Dea, he our God, an he da one an ony Boss.

30 Get love an aloha fo da Boss yoa God, wit all yoa heart, an wit everyting inside you, an wit how you tink, an wit all yoa power.’

31 An da nex main Rule jalike dis one,

Get love an aloha fo da odda guy jalike you get love an aloha fo yoaself.’

No mo odda Rule, mo importan den dis two Rules.”

Mark 12:28 – 31 – Living Bible (TLB) – called The Most Important Commandment

28 One of the teachers of religion who was standing there listening to the discussion realized that Jesus had answered well. So he asked,

“Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29 Jesus replied, “The one that says, ‘Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only God. 30 And you must love him with all your heart and soul and mind and strength.’

31 “The second is: ‘You must love others as much as yourself.’

No other commandments are greater than these.”

And how do you do this daily?

Da Main Rule?

Da main rule according to America’s Grumpiest Grandpa is? I’m still working on this. How to do this daily? I can’t quote these verses and not tell you how I implement them daily. That’s just misleading and hypocrisy. And is an insult to your intellect.

I see these two commandments as three distinct parts. First, if I’m supposed to love my neighbor as myself. Then, I must learn to love myself. Love myself enough to exercise some high quality care of myself. Love as in I Corinthians 13 – love is patient, kind…

My Thought Life Controls All

And I need to love myself enough to care for my physical body. And my thought life which controls everything else. I need to care for my physical body enough to be in quality physical shape. No fat bodies in God’s army. I believe the Bible is clear on this topic.

To understand how to manage your thought life more effectively, you must read this whole blog. Daily. For one month. Study it. Just to start understanding how to discipline your thought life. If you do not manage your thought life, none to the other God stuff works.

One of the best ways you can show me love is: listen

And the LOVE Chapter – 1 Corinthians 13. Love is patient, kind…

(More to come on this topic. Much more.)
